Bill Ennis and I have 8 names that have been nominated for the 2010 Calif Powerlifting Hall of Fame that will be held at the Calif State meet in March 2010.

Yes in 1986 according to Bill Ennis. Then he sued Dr. Kerr.

Weightlifting / Power-lifting Resume of "Robbie" Roberts

Born: 11 Dec. 1930
Began weightlifting 1944
Won N.Y. Jr. Weightlifting Championship 1946
Enlisted U.S. Marine Corps 1948
Established Physical fitness ctrs. throughout U.S.M.C. Base's on own time
Was All Marine Light-heavyweight champion 1963-1968
Was posted as Assistant Physical Fitness Coordinator,Washington D.C. 1963
Helped establish weight training as Part of Marine Corp.Training.
Retired from Active Duty ,after twenty years, six months Honorable service 1968
Set up the Marine Corps recruit Depot San Diego, Fitness Ctr. 1974 in civilian capacity and managed same for 12 years where he held approx. 37 Power-lifting meets on weekends during off duty hours. During that time period he coached the M.C.R.D. Power-lifting team. Was
selected to coach the All Marine Power-lifting team after hosting the All Marine P.L. Championships at our Gym.
Was the winning coach of the Inter-service
Power-lifting championship held at Quantico,Va. 1980. Switched to power-lifting at age 50 and won the Calif.Masters Championship in age group and weight class for some six years. Placed second in the Masters world championships in 1980. was ,and still holds Referees card in the United States Power-lifting Federation,and have refereed several National Meets. Invented the "Pull up assist" which was marketed by Universal Gym.

It's also a long time coming for Vangie. Both Bob and Vangie should be inducted in 2010!

Yes, Pete, I agree Bob and Evangeline are very good selections. Sorta puzzles me why Jim Grudzien hadn't been nominated sooner. Totaled over 1850 @ 181, which was a VERY competitive class back then nationally, might have been World Champ had he qualified. Very well balanced in all the lifts..

There's not many top 181 lifters that I can find these days with numbers like Jim had.
Jim Grudzien is considered one of the greatest 181 class lifters in California history.
